Who I am

My name is Michael Conkey, I enjoy the outdoors and enjoy camping and backpacking. I am involved in a local photography group and help teach photography to others. I am a dog lover, Dexter is my Boston and Lucy is my Jack Russell Terrier.

Why Nine22?

The number nine22 is of great significance to me, first it is my birthday, September 22, but not only is it my birthday, it is also the birthday of my Aunt, as well as my Grandmother's. The number symbolizes a lot for my family. My brother also shares the pride when he races in various sports he will try to be the number 922.

How I started

Growing up my brother was into motocross, and my mother would take pictures of him at just about every race. When I was about 12 years old, I took over shooting duties of my mother's Canon A1 and took some awesome pictures. My brother continued riding motorcycles, and I continued taking pictures. My senior year in high school, I got a new camera, a Nikon N65. I liked it, but my mother didn't and I took it over form there, on until I moved out of home I was without a camera.

After a few years of living away from the parents, I finally got my own camera, a Nikon N80 with that I started getting into low light photography and light painting, within a year I bought a digtal camera and haven't put it down since.
